Event Description

Human trafficking is a huge problem here in Ohio, across the nation, and around the world. In this session, The Turn Out and KNOW Human Trafficking explore the harsh realities of human trafficking in our world.

Join us before the screening for a reception from 6 to 7 p.m., and stick around afterward for a panel discussion on the potential impact of art and design in effecting social change. Hosted by The Roosevelt Coffeehouse.

The Turn Out
Director: Pearl Gluck
Runtime: 1 hour, 20 minutes

In a small town in southern Appalachia, a trucker must decide if he will stand up and take action against sex trafficking at his truckstop. The Turn Out melds the testimony and talents of sex trafficking survivors, anti-trafficking activists, and truckers with the work of film professionals to create an unflinching docudrama of moral dilemma and personal connection in the local landscape of Glouster, Ohio, Athens County, and Mineral Wells, West Virginia.

KNOW Human Trafficking
Director: Hollie Brubaker
Runtime: 24 minutes, 55 seconds

A four-part documentary designed to train the community at large about human trafficking, for the Renee Jones Empowerment Center. Experience the horrors of the crime of sex trafficking through the lens of four survivors, a detective on Ohio’s human trafficking task force, and re-enactments of chilling true stories.
